View Full Version : 301 ?
How long ?
Can't understand why ask is taking what.. 6months + now to pick up a 301 for a moved site..
Old site is still ranking.. Anyone else moved a site and watched ask ?
this problem is not only with ask; itz with yahoo and msn too..
didnt watch ask though..
Only ask is left for my sites that have moved of late :(
2 years now... I 301'd a site to a new domain.. The old domain is still ranking #1 hmmm..
Any bets just how many years its will take ?

I have a site 301'd 4 months ago and the old domain is still showing in Ask. Google, Yahoo & MSN have all followed it. I guess Ask doesn't do much crawling anymore.
lol..
Its got "we found it on 17 April 2007 18:32:33" in the cache..
Hmmm

It seems Ask is very slow for updating the new address. I think google picks up the 301 within a week times

This is a deep question worth discussing.

What is 301? This is error?
Yes and no.
You can call it an error code, but in fact it is a http response code or status code, indicating that a webpage was redirected to another webpage.

Its a serious mistake often done by webmasters...

Mistake? What do you mean?
A 301-redirect can be quite beneficial, and it really needs the "error code" to work.

For me using 301 is not a mistake, lots of company uses 301 and I don't have any idea why you said that this is a mistake.
