Hi there,

In order to measure the ROI of a PPC keyword, you have to first run a campaign and then measure success. For organic, you can do all of your SEO legwork and then measure the success. For either case, this can take weeks if not months before you fully have an understanding of how successfull the keywords are working for you.

Isn't there a better way to predict the success of a keyword? Especially for PPC, if you could predict before the spend, it would certainly help in aquiring the budget to run the campaign. For organic, predicting keywords would certainly speed up the process.

Any tools or best practices anyone can share?

Txs.

Tools can help to a degree

I have found the best keyword (most conversions) are keywords which have 3,4 or 5 words.

Normally people that use these amount of words in a search query are normally looking for something specific (buyers)

Unfortunately my friend its trial and error

Why you don't try the AddMe keyword suggestion tool?

When ever you are starting keyword research, you need to know what the existing traffic is on the keyword/phrase.

Of all the tools out there, Yahoo still has the best starting point: https://signup.overture.com/signup/ss/ols/addListings.do

The lists you get back are very accurate in the “order of listing” but the search volume is ~40% high. But if the keyword has search traffic on Yahoo, then Google search traffic will be about the same.

If you then go into your Adwords account and run the keywords thru the daily estimator, you will see their estimates.

Results:

Google's traffic estimator compared to the 6 month campaign data is about 70% of the estimate. Yahoo's is about 45% (This will also go up with the release of the new Yahoo tools). Everything else we tried is still BS.

I would be very interested in bench marking the tool(s).

IMO, keyword success depends on how well you will optimize your size. both on page and off page. no toll can guarantee anything though it can help. but it still depends on how well you handle your site

Hello guys

I have tried many of the tools. But so far they are near about all the same. ANd I do agree AddMe Keyword is also nice to use. I have some of tools developed from other programmers and they are also more or like same.

Firstly research over its searching report then select the less popular keywords. "Free keywordstracker" in google search will help you.

There are a number of measurements that can be used when determining how good a keyword might be:
* Search volume (high or low)
* KEI
* Number of search results for a keyword phrase
* Number of search results that use the phrase in the title
* Whether a competitor uses a particular phrase
* etc.
Looking at keywords in terms of difficulty is great for having realistic expectation of how soon you might be able to displace other sites ranking well for them, but it won’t tell you if your keyword is a good keyword for you. Same with looking to see if your competitor uses that term. For all you know they haven’t done their research yet.All of the information above is useful within context, but there are really only three things that truly matter. You want:# Keywords that target your audience
# Keywords that get traffic
# Keywords that get conversions
You can find and optimize for a lot of keywords that will perform well in one or two of these areas, but the BEST keywords are those satisfy all three requirements. Anything less won’t do.You can target your audience with low traffic keywords - but your conversion rates will be low.You can get traffic that doesn’t convert - but sales rates will be low.You can get conversions by targeting low traffic keywords - but your traffic rates will be low.You can target your audience with poor converting keywords - but your sales will suffer.You can get traffic without targeting your audience - but your conversions will suffer.You can get conversions without targeting your audience - but your traffic will suffer.The best keywords ever are keywords that you have determined to be relevant and have tested to get results. Nothing else really matters.
