Just wondering how exactly Alexa works and how it will help my sites? Is it worth a damn at all?

I agree with wit.. Its completely worthless..

Its just a guide..

This only pro about a good alexa ranking is if your selling advertising..

Things like text link ads include alexa rank on yours/other people listings..!

The problem with Alexa (other than the fact that it is owned by Amazon) is that its rankings are only based on its membership which is a very small percentage of web users. The only people I ever see that make a big deal of Alexa are the internet marketers.

Though Alexa can be gamed easily, webmasters can not afford to ignore it.
Check my following post

Thanx Raj ! Its a nice article. Nothing is useless in the world. So even alexa will do some sort of help . Will it be visible or invisible help, time will tell us.

If you rank is more than 10K, it's useless and meanless.
