How do I search to see if my competitor has any edu backlinks?
Thanks.
Try
http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=link%3Awww.google.com+.edu&FORM=MSNH
Note google on msn.. I'm so sad..

Gabs:
I tried it and it turned up some, but not all edu links to my site. It showed a bunch of pages with links with some reference to the letters edu....but also sites that had the word education.
I would try:
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=linkdomain%3Awww.google.com+site%3A.edu
...instead. Yahoo allows the simultaneous use of site: and link(domain):

Looks good.. But tried it one of my sites which has .edu and .gov links with zero results..
For me the msn show my the links but as earlpearl said it also includes a loads on content returns..
Yeah, Yahoo's Slurp can be a bit slow to see and follow links. But once it's on a roll..... :)
Use the Pagestrength tool from SEOMoz.org and enter any URL you want to test. The tool also displays the number of edu backlinks. Just click on that number and you can see where the backlinks come from

Yep SEOmoz's page strength tool is the best way!
