I think backlink maturity is a key factor with Yahoo, anchor text links help but they take time to kick in.

This is probably impossible to answer - but how much better is it to submit to the directory?

I am keen not to throw away a couple of hundred dollars, but if it means lots more traffic, then maybe it will be a good investment. I just find it really difficult to decide whether or not to invest in Yahoo.

Does anyone here have any stats for before and after pageviews after submitting to Yahoo?

Does anyone have any really negative experiences (i.e. no change in traffic)?

Cheers,

Jon.

I would definitely suggest getting a Yahoo! directory listing to improve rankings, especially in Yahoo!. This would also be a good time as you can now use the new meta tag to stop them from using your directory listing as the title and description in the SERPs.

<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOYDIR">

Yahoo directory listing, since is an expensive link, but will be really helpful and adds to the importance of websites.

It not only helps on Yahoo but will be appreciated by Google as well, in fact, it is recommended by Google to have a Yahoo listing. The reason is quite clear, webmasters who are going to pay a fixed yearly link price, are concerned about their websites success and so will have values for their sites.

Hi Everyone!

Normally, I do very, very well in Yahoo. With the last algo change, I had a few sites tumble. The same sites fluctuate dramatically; one day at #35, one day at #54... On terms that I've had a top spot listing for quite some time.

My other sites, which are very content rich with at least 500-600 words of well written text on the pages have stayed stable.

The sites that have tumbled have less unique text, and in one case, less text on-page than I'm usually comfortable with ( but it's not my site, so I don't have control over this ). However, viewing Yahoo's current SERPS, this doesn't seem to be an issue with other sites ranking well.

I'm wondering if anyone has noticed Yahoo playing around with inbound link filters or penalties?

The biggest problem between Google and Yahoo's algorithm is that they look for totally different aspects of your web site. So if you have high rankings in google and not so high in yahoo is because of the diffrences.
