Ok, I have been submitting like crazy to Industry Related sites and Indexes that I think could be a major participant in our Organic Page Rank. Problem is I have not received any responses to my requests at all.

How long should I wait until another contact is made? Should I even bother to make another attempt at contact?

I am new to this industry (graduated 2 years ago with Associates in programming/analyst) and would appreciate any tips/help/advice any of you could lend my way.

Ok, so does nobody know?

Or does everybody know and not want to tell me?

Or is this subject taboo?

:D - patience isn't one of your virtues it appears Bo!

You don't say how much time you've given the "industry related sites and indexes" you submitted to but if it's less than a business week you may want to wait a little while longer.

I'd follow up a second time with a short polite note and if you don't hear anything from that point, move on.

Well, I have allowed the most recent one 5 business days thus far. I guess I'll follow-up on these links in the next few days. Thanks!

Bo, here's a suggestion to consider:

The next time you email/solicit for links, sweeten the pot a little. Include an incentive and make it time sensitive. That might encourage webmasters to act on the email right away.

Im finding one way links to be more beneficial and are more priority for me now. Its just more efficient then all the tests needed to run and review for reciprocal linking.

I think you can again mail them but explain in detail why you want links and what benefit they will drive from it.

Add their link at your site and after that send them polite mail.

I don't ask others for link exchanges, however I do receive them on a daily basis. The 4 key things which usually make me delete them are:

Bad grammar - some that i receive sound like they are written by a 10 year old. This does not make me want to deal with them.

Unrelated sites - a quick look at the url usually tells me they are totally unrelated.

No PR - they are expeting a PR 4 link from me in exchange from a 0PR or Greybar page from them.

Too many links on the page - I've had requests from people with almost 100 links on them!

I hope this helps.

Steve

You need to submit your links to free website directories for gaining permanent backlinks and would grow with the increase in directories PR.

Are you sure that all free directories have permanent links for you?

Embarking on a link building campaign is difficult and stressful at the best of times. Webmaters should be aware that not many sites are going to exchange with low ranked websites. This means it will always be difficult for any site in the early years.

My advice would be to use strategies such as 'reverse engineering' to build links. When your website reaches a PR of 4 or above you will find it much easier to exchange links with on theme sites.

The one thing to consider when requesting links is; Site owners will not be interested in your homepage ranking, more the ranking of your links page. To that end it is important when link building to deep link your links page as much as possible.

Well, when ever you send them a request get your priorities clear.Like what page rank you have and the page rank the page has where you are ranking him. What sort of link exchange you would prefer, whether it is just reciprocal or one way to three way.Give them a certain time letting them know when you upload your link pages and where you keep the approved ones.
If in case they don't reply within the stipulated period delete their links and moreover why worry, there are numerous of websites that are in the same category.Go register to link metro and link alizer .There the link exchange request is automated.

Automated services are prohibited by google.

you are correct, but there's nothing wrong to try both.

But you have to follow some steps during link exchange as give below:

1.Dont get outgoing links more than 20 on a single page.
2.Try to get links from relevant and valuable sites only.
3.Don't get links from link farm sites.
4.Check the site wheather it is in black list or not.

definitely you must consider all those things

First off, what does your site look like?

Then what does you site offer to someone else.

If your site is new, then you have no value to anyone yet.

Just a suggestion, be paitence and continue to add content to your site.

And if you spam someone with emails, you never will get links.
