Did your visible QS go up or down?
What I have noticed is, with a new campaign, keywords are given an "OK" and then when the big gets around to it, assesses the score properly.
Give us some specifics
ok...
only 2 advertisers on that k/w...
Its a massive word... With many search for 2 reasons..
The word is a item like.. "box" but in the UK we have a company called "box" that doesn't sell boxes..
I add the word yesterday and had a GREAT score.. Perfect.. Traffic came but due to the keyword cross over the CTR was low..
The system in the above case make no sense.. My ads was then disabled .. The score changed and the price went up 10x ...
My site is the only one that offers "boxes" which gave me that entire maket for that k/w...
hmmm... Worth asking them ? I'm going to get a reply along the line of the algo will sort it..
Its gone up again today to $1 +
I started a new camp and its allowing me to pay just 2p / 4cents...
hmmm .. Watch and learn..

That is what I thought....
Can you please try the same thing when Google releases the new quality score algo.
If you see an ad spikes up, ad the same exact one but a new one. See if they give you a better price.
Just curious...
Its got worse...
Not adwords but ADSENSE OMG!!!
I'll post over in the adsense forum!

Waiting...
ok..
9am gmt.. Day 1 of the update ..
The orginal a/c (The ad relates directly to the k/w but isn't mentioned..)
Inactive for search
Increase quality or bid £5.00 to activate
I've deleted and re added which before came in at 2p now I get
Inactive for search
Increase quality or bid £2.50 to activate
a/c (this a/c has the same kw but the ad is mentioning the k/w in the title and description)
The a/c I get
Inactive for search
Increase quality or bid £2.50 to activate
I've deleted and re added which before came in at 2p now I get
Inactive for search
Increase quality or bid £2.50 to activate

Why not just move on to other keywords? :)

Yea, try adding new keywords, see if that changes things...

hehehe..
I'm not worried about these k/w for me..
Just playing but it interests me in regards to the fact that yesterday it only had 2 ads for that k/w..
I've just checked now and its showing 4 ads only! ..
The algo is stopping low prices for high searches... Interesting to me..

The number of advertisers bidding on a keyword doesn't have any impact on your minimum required bid.

I have plently of low bid high volume keywords in various accounts so I don't think there's a "high volume = up the min bid" filter:)
.. yep I know it not just the lack of ads but volume etc the effect the ppc..
Anyway thinking about adding a page really focussed on that k/w with adsesne hmmm the $10 click.. ;)

You might need to check your landing page how is relevant to your ad group.
The landing page is one of major factors for your Quality Score.
Thanks.

I know your heart ache, I am absolutely positive that it is manually audited and they just stick abitary max cpc costs in if they do not like your activity. I work with a number of affiliate programs, which Google absolutely detest and they recently went through my accounts and ravaged all of best performing terms. My min CPC, which had been at £0.01 since they introduced that reporting feature, went straight to £5.00. I emailed Google 5-6 times and all they said was that my quality was poor! I use a method of redirect tracking which the rest of world probably use which links direct to the merchant. My ads guised as the merchant and linked to the merchant so had the best possible QS. What was annoying Google is that they probably managed the Merchant direct, their ads were showing because I was there, decided to take the back route and knock me off! The merchant was open to me doing what I was doing, Google wasn't. They never replied to me when I wrote back about quality but hey Google are gods and we must worship!

[QUOTE=cianuro;9503]I think you should have a read of this:
Read it and agree with what it says, but Google's algorithm has somthing a miss, which I have not yet put my finger on. I have been doing adwords for years and run an small SEM agency. I have lots of adwords accounts at my disposal and have run tests on keywords and landing pages. With this particular scenario I was talking about before, I resubmitted my ads and rather than going via an affiliate link, i linked my keywords direct to the merchants homepage, i wasn't interested in tracking my sales at this point I just wanted to see what Google did. I resubmitted the keywords to a new ad group. They went in with a quality score of Great (£0.02) and an hour later where again bumped up to £5.00. I am not the direct SEM advertiser of the Merchant, but they changed my keyword scores which according to them had poor quality, even though they were keywords relating to the brand itself, linking directly to the homepage with absolutely no redirections going on, plus an ad text that had been running for a year with a CTR of over 40%. You could argue that the landing page was poor. On the contrary this company are no couch potatoes FTSE 100 and know what they are doing in the world of online and have a very good content site. It goes back to my original point in that Google simply did not like my activity and stopped it.
