The thing is with Yahoo they will crawl and crawl a website but they can be slow to actually add pages to their index.

Very true.. I agree..
I've always seen yahoo bot go crazy for a few day every month or 2... And this seems to be one of those few day again...

I've noticed a clients site now displaying it's own page title instead of the Yahoo! Directory version, didn't Yahoo! need to run an update to get the NOYDIR meta tags to start working?
Could be linked but I haven't been following the title changes too closely so maybe an update for this has already happened.
Makes sense..
I don't watch the title much either.. I should go and add the meta info.. hmm..

I agree too, Yahoo! re caches my homepage every 12-24 hours but it is very slow to pick up new content especially if you don't have a Yahoo! directory listing, my directory www.biz-dir.co.uk has 386 pages indexed by Google about 500 by MSN and only 79 indexed by Yahoo! Thinking I might buy a listing for it but I don't want them to burry me, I would give my right arm to have it listed on this page:
http://dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Economy/Directories/
But I couldn't care less about being listed here:
http://dir.yahoo.com/Regional/Countries/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Directories/?b=20
Don't know how Applegate got on there? Has anyone ever attempted to bribe Yahoo!? Does anyone know if there is an email address for someone at the Yahoo! Directory?

You might slip off of the first page once your site isn't marked as new anymore, but it's still a decent category to be listed in.

I just clicked on conferencenetwork.co.uk from that directory listing page, didn't quite take me where I expected to go!
Maybe there not so selective after all! :D

Re 1st page - Once my new thingie expires I am going to sponsor the category for $50 a month untill I have enough traffic to maintain 1st page position, I noticed the conferencenetwork.co.uk redirecting to that swingers site as well and I told them about it when I applied, don't know why they haven't removed it yet.

Sponsoring's a good idea, are the listings always ordered by traffic then?

Yeah, I think so, this guy on the SERoundTable blog told me that it goes off Yahoo traffic so if you sponsor a category in theory you should eventually not have to pay for your 1st page position.

I am facing similar problems with one of my website and have been waiting yahoo to crawl for quite some time now. Is it possible that the website is under a penalty with yahoo. i have 4 pages indexed in yahoo.

Yahoo SE still crawl my 13 pages whereas Google SE crawl 39 pages. I don't know what's wrong with yahoo SE.
I also noticed NOYDIR meta tags to start working on my friend's website. Yahoo SE showing title exist in website instead of Yahoo! Directory version title.
