I was reading in a blog of someone who wanted to increase their organic search engine rankings for certain keyword terms with special characters in their title tag.

They felt an unusual title would attract more clicks and help boost the pages ranking in the natural results on Google.

I wanted something to make my ads stand out from the competition in the pay per click campaigns, and thought to take a bit of the idea above and apply it to my campaigns.

I knew Google and others will not allow me to use special English characters in my ad and thought perhaps the bots would not be able to read non-English characters.

So what I have decided to do was use non english characters in my ads.

I have placed the characters within the title tag at the front at the end and at the front and end.

Here are two examples

Warning: Google may or may not like this.

Implementing this could have your Ads placed on hold. Mine have not in over a week but who knows what will happen now that it's published.

I'd be curious as to the CPC on those special char ad's...

Are they bringing in some decent traffic?

I'd be surprised if those ads lasted more than a week, tbh. I would also expect to see a rise in CTR but no rise in conversions (much like what happens when you have other "eye catchers" like the Google Checkout logo on your ads.....).

I have found in the past that using the special charcters ® or ™ works really well at distinguishing from the rest especially when bidding on competitive brand related terms. It gives the ad a bit of Kudos and makes it stand out.

Google don't seem to mind I've had ads running for years like this.

Oddly enough I just took a look at a new clients spartacusp2p.com Adwords set up and they have the TM mark in their ad titles and it looks great!!!!

Thank you for the input..

Lasted well over a week, still running on some pulled from others.

In some ads it works well.... others did not....like anything each find their own usage from others tips or tricks.....

Peace!

This seems like BS to me. I don't think this is true at all ;)

Nice. But the reason it's #1 in the organics for keyword richest women is not because of the gizmos in the TITLE TAG. It's because the keyword is also the domain name :)
