OKy..

Has anyone got any good advice on the best way to get a link to stay on wikipedia.org..

Today I added a great resource of information (a forum) which was removed.. A similar site is listed but is not such a niche to the subject matter..

Is it worth contacting the helpdesk ?

If it's a valid resource then sign up for an account & put it back up.
That way you can also see who keeps removing it...

It may be worth it to 'obfuscate" your edits in some way.

Provided they are quality edits and of real value to humanity of course.....

I typically post in the "discussion" that I've added the link and believe it to be of value. It also helps if you write the article (and do a great job with it), then note the link as a "source" for the material. No one can argue with you because you wrote it and you know your sources! It also helps to point to more than just one resource.

The site in question is listed twice in zeal and I feel that it a great resource.. But then its all about opinion..

Cheers randfish.. I'll check it out.. In 2weeks (on my hols next week) .. I'll update the thread with a progress reports..

And sometimes you just get lucky. I added a link as a resource. No one has objected yet.

Mine was up for 2 weeks, it was about "Blog_Networks" til someone's decided to take it all off.

I never thought the editors of Wikipedia would have the time, but they manage to go through almost everything that is posted. Definitely defend your post in the discussion tab in order to help keep it up. At least then an editor won't take it down, but will tell you why they think it should be taken down.

I wouldn't bother they keep flip floppin the follow tag almost every week.

PK, rel='no follow' or not, it doesn't deter humans from following the links. I get a nice bit of traffic for some of my resource sites that have maintained positions in the wiki since I added them (without an account).

Backlinks are incoming links to a website or web page. In basic link terminology, a backlink is any link received by a web node (web page, directory, website, or top level domain) from another web node. Backlinks are also known as incoming links, inbound links, inlinks, and inward links.
