hi everyone,
i'd like some opinions on the following email i sent a well known member of the seo community as i'm hoping to get some validation for a 10k quote to help with potential sticker shock from a long time client. i'm looking for feedback from anyone that is willing to give their 2 cents as i feel the more feedback i get the better, anyhow, here's the email.........

hi ----------,
nice chatting with you, as i mentioned, i'm one of those one man shops and have a fairly large and competitive "fix" in my midst for a long-time client who has chosen to get into the online poker realm and in doing so, had the online poker folks produce phase 1 for the transition of their site.
what i'm faced with is not only resurrecting previous positions but optimizing new content which, if you look closely, you'll notice some of the new content was indexed and subsequently deleted from serps all within a 4 week period.
my work will involve....
- conversion of a 15,000+ member phpbb forum to ipb
- blog marketing (and software update)
- update photo gallery software
- implement knowledge base / front line support ticket system
- and of course, recoding of every page on the site for valid xhtml / css / 508 / wcag / meta / new site map / custom error pages / usability / site search / etc
ranking report prior to "the other guy's" website redesign/coding, this is my work:

ranking report reflecting 4 weeks after their work was released:

what the se's are doing is basically scrambling to provide previous caches of their results for the serps of this domain, when in fact, the url's have been killed with 302 redirects, my assumption is that even though se's will correct their listings, the new content's code is of such poor quality that it's only a matter of time before it turns uglier. of course i have my concerns about design as well, but that's aside from what i have to do, as i usually say, the clothes (design) can change, but how you act/present/speak doesn't (content, code, etc).
anyhow, quite honestly, the bulk of people i speak with, think of my human analogies and references to books, phone books, resumes etc for seo as dissertations ;) and stop me shy of putting them to sleep with "that's why we're working with you, do your magic"
obviously there is much to learn, but i am trying to somehow validate a 10k quote to these guys before i break the news to them that it is going to take *possibly* two months to complete recoding for phase 2 - in the back of my mind i'm really thinking 15k as i will be developing rss feeds as well for all main sections of the site in addition to the bullets above.
your general thoughts would be appreciated but i know very well you are most likely busy with projects, so, it was nice chatting with you for a moment. again, i'm seeking some form of validation for my current skill set so i feel that much more compelled to delve into all of the items i don't work with yet such as ppc campaigns, etc.
thanks ----------,

note... if you've read this far, are there any thoughts you have that you'd like to share?
thanks,
chris
