That's a quote by Aristotle, by the way...
I've been thinking about the principle in terms of domain names, TLDs, etc.
Is a rarer TLD more valuable?
Well, we all know why .edu and .gov TLDs are more valuable: they're harder to get, and you have to have special credentials to get them. In other words, they're more valuable, at least in part, b/c they're rarer.
But is this true of all TLDs? What about .us? .net, .info, or .pro? (btw, can anyone still purchase a dot-pro TLD??? )
How about the new .asia TLD that's coming out? Do you guys think it would be valuable to have one? Even though my company's not based in Asia, nor do I do business with anyone in Asia (yet), I can still get one through my hosting company.
Do you think it's worth it? What, if anything, could be done with the .Asia TLD if I were to get it?
And I bought a few .us TLDs. I'm wondering: two equal sites, similar in content, etc; one is a .com and the other a .us, which one, if either, would the search engines prefer? Do .us's "sometimes" look to the Search engines like .govs? (I started wondering about this b/c you're now seeing a lot of govt agencies registering .us TLDs)
Just a batch of SEO questions. Feel free to tackle all, or none, as you so desire.
Thanks, Eric
