Another concept is help someone on one of these forums and then ask them for a link.
Or create a list of site that give someone a place to go to add links (i.e. link directories, etc)
Most of my inbound links now come from forum friends that I have met world wide. And remember, a PR0 site today is only 1 Google PR update away from a PR4. Help them create a site map, help them submit their site to the SE's or even help them get indexed.
Also, give someone a real link with their correct SEOed anchor text and leave it in place for 2 years without games.

Organic links are ones that you have done yourself and have not paid for them. Reciprocal links are a thing of the past. Back links and content are whats good for SEO and SERPS. Go on forums and blogs (do follow) and do insightful comments and use a signauture. Put new content on your site daily will get it crawled by search engines by adding a blog to your site. Consider an article on press site will bring traffic to your site no duplicate content.

The best method for getting links really depends on the kind of site you have. Some sites can make linkbait on a regular basis and do very well, but others are going to have a much tougher time coming up with something enticing. I always look for the biggest 5-10 competitors and then see who links to them and why. Going after those types of links is a great way to get started.

Linkbait is a technique to get a link from other site with giving link back.
you may do this by blogging it, you begin the introduction about a certain site or article then you may lead your readers to that certain article or link by a link... others may also do the same with your site or blog...
