How many keywords should you add into the keyword meta tag? Does it matter? At the moment were competing for 15 keywords which has about 24 words.
Thanks

It doesn't really matter. Google ignores the tag anyway. I just put in about 10 relevant phrases per page.
Dave,
Just try and be as relevant as you can...
K/w meta tag offern can cause more harm than good so make sure the words are in the content, links to the page and description but not identical to and parts on the page e.g. the first bit of content with a load of "," as thats a lazy spam way to auto fill them.. ;)

Thanks Gabs ill take a look!
just browsing through a forum i found. Its not a seo forum is designed for webmasters and coders but there is a section for seo. And in a thread it says that google and aol etc. don't use these at all. I'm not sure if thats true of if its just someone being an idiot. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks
The consensus is google doesn't count but other day...
Just keep in mind that its can do my harm than good in google's eyes..
Also don't waste to much time on as its not worth it compared with "almost" any other area of seo ...
meta tags has less value now.. but some SEs are still giving some importance to those tags (i think it's MSN and Yahoo)

Many believe that the only important tags nowadays are Title and description, even description might not be That necessary but the title is. Just add a few words to your keywords tags, the ones you use for adding the links to your site.

Keywords in keyword tag doest matter for google. google gives weightage to title tag and description tag. but you can add around 20 key phrases in keyword tag.

Meta-information (information about information) that is associated with a web page and placed in the HTML but not displayed on the page for the user to see. There are a range of meta tags, only a few of which are relevant to search engine spiders. Two of the most well-known meta tags are the meta description and meta keywords; unfortunately these are ignored by most major search engines, including Google.

The major points related to meta tag keywords are-----
1.Mostly all the search engine spiders view the HTML tags of web page.
2.Meta keyword tag gives the idea of how many and which keywords are used in the web page.
3.Meta keyword tag gives the exact and clear scenario of web page to the search engine.
I think that keywords which you have inserted in the Meta keyword tag has to be repeated suitably in the body copy of the web page otherwise if it is not repeated your keyword selection will go in vain.
But now a days google is not giving high weight age to meta tags keywords.
So concentrate on content with relevant keywords. And place keywords only at the logical places and not every where.
