A little help please. The site I'm currently handling doesn't have an indexed page in Yahoo considering it does have 59,200 indexed pages in Google. This is a major retail site that does generate outstanding daily traffic. Still, it cannot be found in Yahoo. I've asked this question many times in many forums yet to find a sensible answer. I already made sure that:

1. Site is submitted to Yahoo already
2. Robots are not blocked
3. Site isn't banned (as far as I know)

Any insight on the matter?

It could be possible that your site is not SEO friendly. This could be reason why none of your pages are getting crawled

If you could post a link to the site you are referring then we could check what's wrong...

How old is the site?

I have always found it is more difficult to get indexed in Yahoo compared to Google, but easier to rank in Yahoo once indexed.

Yahoo is the easiest search engine of them all, best way to conquer it is by valid markup on website & submitting your site to social bookmarks. Yahoo still thinks very highly on rel="nofollow" links hence why they show all in site explorer. Other major points include:

Quality of site - like Google has attempted to do in the past with PageRank and is learning to do with TrustRank, sheer numbers aren't what will get you high rankings on Yahoo!, the quality of those links is more important. We must remember than PageRank is a Google calculation, not Yahoo! and so it alone cannot determine the value of a link when we are optimizing for this engine. It can be used as a quasi-benchmark however when determining if a link is a quality link on Yahoo! we are better off to considered whether it is from a site that is ranking well on Yahoo! for the same or related phrases, does it come from a site that it related to ours, does the site link to a site that is ranking well on Yahoo! and does the link come from a trusted domain. For these purposes a trusted domain can be considered any domain that is over 3 years old, has a solid number of backlinks coming from a wide variety of sites and which at least a solid number of are non-reciprocal links.
Position of link - like all the major engines, the position of your link on the page is important. A link at or near the bottom of the page is less valuable than a link nearer to the top. Also, if your link is on a page with other links, the effect that link will have on your rankings decreases respective to the number of links on the linking page.
Anchor text - the text used to link to your site will help reinforce that the keywords in that anchor text are associated with your site/page. Also, if that anchor text in in the midst of the content it will hold greater weight than if that anchor text is in a directory-style format above a description (i.e. link a standard links page)
Non-reciprocal links - reciprocal links are certainly still valuable on Yahoo! however it is important to supplement these links with non-reciprocal links in the form of directory listings and other one-way links.

Huh? You mean nofollow links pass link juice where Yahoo is concerned?

For the OP, it's important to know how old the site is. Yahoo may not index a site for six months or more.

Yes, yahoo and msn seem to pretty much ignore the nofollow command. OP, this sure is strange. Have you since gotten into yahoo? I would suggest getting some high quality links, and hoping that's enough to get yahoo interested.

Have the yahoo spiders at least been around?

Matt

It's not advisable to submit your site on yahoo let them crawl your site by submitting your site on social bookmarking site or in forums that is frequently updated.

It is advisable to submit your feed if you have one. This will get Yahoo crawling the site regularly.

Maybe you should try creating a HTML sitemap and submit it to Yahoo.

That is very strange have you contacted yahoo about this?

I would submit the sitemap and rss feed if applicable to yahoo site explorer and if no diagnostic feedback is forthcoming a last resort could be the yahoo directory some people experience a positive effect on yahoo search results after inclusion.

I tend to agree that it may have already been banned. Yahoo generally picks up pretty fast, even before google in most cases. The bad news is once you are out of yahoo it is near impossible to get back in. I hope I am wrong and good luck to you.

It's impossible to have 59,200 indexed pages in Google and no at Yahoo, if not banned of course.. I have about 5000 links indexed by Google but about 150 at Yahoo, it looks like yahoo index lower but however.. what s your page, let me check it !
