So, for a while we used the Overture Keyword Suggestion tool for our keyword research, but upon learning they were over inflated, looked elsewhere.

We've now been using Wordtracker for a bit, but have become increasingly skepticle about its UK results. Reading their FAQ suggests that the US results are taken from MetaCrawlers, which can predict volumes, but when it gets down to UK results it becomes rather hazy. They say they get their search data from ISP numbers and a search engine, but they can't reveal who. My guess is therefore that it'd be AOL and some little ISP, maybe Orange.

But this proves a problem, because we know for a fact that some traffic (and not insignificant volumes either) is being generated through our PPC campaigns for keywords that Wordtracker denies anyone is searching for.

My question therefore is, do you still use Wordtracker? Do the results bother you? Can you suggest a better alternative?

I'm coming to the conclusion that keyword research just replaces guess word with more guess work... :(

I use PPC activity and on site search records as the basis of my KW research. Its difficult to get UK specific stuff with any kind of accuracy. I've also had the same problem with wordtracker.

Overture and worktracker are good keyword analysis but you can't find 100% accurate result.

Locate some top ranking UK based sites that deal in same business...... and check the 'meta tags' in the source file of their pages..... You will find hints to a good amount of targeted keywords there.

I believe Wordtracker offers excellent results and answers. I too believe that Overture data is not that accurate.

well I suggest to use 5 different keyword search or more for specific keyword and then compare all of the results, in that way the result is more accurate even in uk results.

I find it quite useful to use Google Adwords Keyword suggestion tool. You cam edit the option to view results for UK searches only.

I also suppose Wordtracker recommend outstanding results and answers. I too believe that Overture data is not that correct.
