Hello to you all,
I want to buy the year subscription to Yahoo's Directory, but the website I am buying it for is a comparison website and I am worried they are not goin to accept me in to their directory, thus wasting $200, as they don't refund. I was wondering how strict they are on this, as the site doesnt have much content, its www.asrecommended.co.uk
Hope you can help,
Mischa.

Thats always the danger with such an expensive inclusion fee plus it would not be so bad if it was refundable in the event your submission was unsuccessful.

I am ranking well and moving up nicely with many key phrases for my niche. That is, I am on google, MSN, and Alta. What is up with Yahoo, I am not listing on anything I need. It comes up with my name, but that is about it.
I am trying the site explorer tool but what else?

Thats strange it is usually google that is the hardest search engine to rank well for.
You could try looking at the sites you are competing against on yahoo to see if they are doing something you are not.

Well, Yahoo directory links are one of those complex things as you are not 100% sure if the links are going to be approved or not but one thing is certain that having Yahoo links, can help websites gaining strength online such as TrrustRank and that is why even Google tells webmasters such links are nice.

well I think, we shouldn't pay for any seo or directories because whenever we pay they increase prices due to demand & supply theory... Try to do your own link building and look for some seo stuff but don't pay someone so at least prices goes down :)

B is quite right, if you get in, the Trust/authority of the site can really make a difference; plus you get listed in the regional yahoo directories as well so there are a wealth of links - some may not have that good of page rank but the aurthority factor is really gaining importance in SE optimization and rankings, so it might be worth the shot.
of course depends on the quality of your site whether you get listed, i assume

I think paying big money for the yahoo directory is a waste of time because you won't get any referals!
