Here is an interesting blog entry about an undocumented Google "service" that strips out images and ads from any website you view. I gave it a run and it looks like it would be more useful to detect SPAM more than a surfing convenience.
All you have to do is goto http://www.google.com/gwt/n and type in a URL. That's it.

The author states it might be used for low bandwidth or cell/mobile phones but it's just not that useful IMO. It would be helpful in finding all those hidden same color as the background text links though.
