Hi Every one.:)
From link building and link popularity point of view, site submission to directories and search engines plays an important role.

Directory Submission:
-In case of Directory submission, site should be submitted in correct category.
-Directory should be well known one,then only submission becomes successful.
-Now a days some directories make mandatory condition of reciprocal linking.
For those directories site content matters least.
-So, do not submit sites to those directories.
-Good directories properly read your content and accordingly it supports search engine for giving ranking to the sweb pages.
-Because search engine mostly refer to good directories.

Search Engine-
- SE also supports for link building and link popularity.
-If u will submit your site to good Search Engines and if your content quality is good your page ranking will automatically increases.

Indeed, link building can help a lot in increasing the PR of your site. As for directory submission, this SEO initiative is helpful for the formation of backlinks.

yea... but don't just submit your site anywhere...

make sure also that you submit it to quality pages...

I'm with you on this. Submitting to just any directory can be a waste of time, since there are some directories wherein it could take months for confirmation of the backlink.

That is just one strategy or initiative to take; you have to back it up with article submission, which may be faster to respond.

There are quality and none quality directories on the web. The directories which has uncached sub categories are the members of none quality directories. However it's absolute free of charge for you, but nothing effect for your web-marketing! The other group is the quality directories where the sub categories are cached and maybe their Page Rank is 0/10 1/10 2/10 or 3/10. In the top most cases the quality directories has always a payment procedure, so it's not free of charge for you! And of course the Google hate the bidding directories, so I'm not sure that a bidding directory would be a good investing or not . . .

The problem with directories is they very slow in terms of approving the site.

There are literally thousands of directories that do not charge a thing for site additions. These are the directories you should add to first. You should note that many of the free directories also have premium listings for higher, and more visible links. Many of the free directories may also take days, weeks, months or even years to add your site.
