Can anyone be kind enough to tell me in what aspects does Ask has an edge from other search engines? If you think there's nothing, then why do you think it is still around?

Personally I have always liked ask.com's layout and related searches feature. They are just a little lacking in the marketing department. It can still be a stream of traffic, although a fairly small one.

I am also using Ask search engine but not as always... maybe, some of the internet users do not like it because the design of the homepage is too simple...

I disagree. The Ask.com homepage is similar in complexity to Google's homepage, generally considered a strength.

I work with Ask and it is ok, you can try it, there is no harm in trying.

I think they are around only because they have a great name and URL. The service is good but not ground breaking. If I remember correctly they tried the same angle BING is trying now. I.E. the intuitive solution oriented search blah blah...
Maybe the time is right this go around.

I have just done this and removed all search engines but Google - but when the browser cannot find a website / page ask.com comes up again providing suggestions? Could this be spyware

any people think tagging provides an elegant paradigm of organizing information. In addition, we're starting to see the "power of many" being leveraged to build fancy stuff like shared folksonomies where you plug your personal information sphere into the collective mindset.
