As per my observations your yahoo SERPs effects through yahoo My Web 2.0 BETA.

How?

In Yahoo! My Web 2.0 BETA there is feature of "Tags" so through tags your ranking may effect positive its depend upon count of tags by different yahoo users for your web site,

For example:
If you have SEO Service website and many of yahoo users mark/tag your web site with a word of "SEO" so yahoo will consider your web site more relevant with SEO work and its may effect your SERPs positive.

What your opinion about my observation?

I agree, tagging for yahoo will be the new backlinks.

So are these tags affecting natural results for users who are logged in to Yahoo!, or is it affecting the whole of the natural search index?

I've been playing with del.icio.us stuff and have seen some interesting results from that - Is this Yahoo's anwser?

Currently, it has little affect. But it may have an effect in the future. Without being logged in and with being logged in.

Interesting stuff - I'm going to have to side with Danny on this - It's way too easy to spam.

I was offline most of last week so only just read about del.icio.us being bought by Yahoo - I wonder how they plan to integrate it...

This tagging could be a spammer's dream. I'm pretty sure Yahoo realises this though so it remains to be seen how they could integrate this.

havent really worked much with the del.icio.us way-o-life, but seems interesting...as far as 'easy to spam' goes, just ask yourself - how difficult is it now?

Y! has obviously given it some thought and I just hope that tagging keeps growing and evolves into something useful

I dont think so spamming with tagging will be possible because you can tag any web site after login in yahoo account... so its very easy for yahoo to track spamming..

That's NOT out of the question. It is much like block / save feature Yahoo introduced a while back. Now this could be an enhanced one where they can collect some useful data so that could be used to influence a site's rankings as per its relevance and quality.

I agree with Barry. At the moment, it might have a very trivial effect on rankings. But may be they will work on it and it might become one of those important factors. That's just speculation.

As for the possibility of its abuse by the ubiquitous spammers, I think Yahoo will NOT be simply looking at the # of tags by # of its users, but rather they will be handling it more intelligently by taking into a/c the ip, user agent, date and time, login data, topical area etc. to differentiate between a potential spammer and a user.

Here again there might be a lot going on behind the scene... :D
