Hi there
I have written before that.. one does not need inbound external links, to gain Google PageRank
This page on my site has a PR3 yet nobody links to it, but me, from my internal site links.
http://www.sem-advance.com/seo-books.htm
I've checked Google Yahoo MSN for links other than my site's own internals and nothing.
So is this from passing the PR from other pages??
If so then why is my index page a PR2?? and how could I toss a 3 from a 2??
Hmmmm....

Just shows you how out of sync the displayed PageRank is.
There is no doubt one does pass pagerank from internal page to internal page.
But doesn't mean it is accurate. :)

Hi Barry
Lol worry ??? ugh... not into that personally
Just I like knowing the answers to something fully, and then when I write things I cannot prove fully... I get ridiculed it seems, so there are two good reasons.
My thought was since the page is basically pulling in Amazon data.. it would draw the PR that way..

My initial guess is that this page received an extra PR boost because of all the links to Amazon.
From working with links pages, I've often observed that when everything else is equal (incoming links, menu placement, etc. . . ) pages on the same website with more outgoing links receive higher PR.
For example, lets say you have a links page for Shoes and another for Shirts. If the only links to these pages are from a links category page and there are 2 links in Shoes and 25 links in Shirts, the Shirts Page will often have a higher PR than the Shoes page.
I know this runs counter to the "leaking PR" theory, but this is what I have observed.

Hi komodo
Interesting....as I feel that pages seem to earn PR for links in and links out. This would seem to reinforce web directories I've seen placed on line with a load of outbound links and few inbounds pull a PR 4 in a relatively short period of time.
There is also talk of developers being able to effect their sites PR just through a loose knit network of same owner sites in different categories. Think baseball cards, baseball uniforms, baseball memoribilia, baseball fan site, baseball fantasy league.. so you get the picture,,, then place links... in moderation.... between them, over a realistic period of time, and you develop your own PR it seems.
Throw in a few one way external links into your nextwork and you may not need much more to hit front page.
Thinking about this.. the SE's cannot stop you from passing page rank to your sites.. (without manual intervention.) whether on a shared server, or a dedicated.
I could host each of my sites on different servers, use prepaid credit cards to register them, and no search engine could figure it out, so therefore I can do it building a networlk of quality sites....
In ways it is almost like home builders.. KH Hovnanian I believe is one with a very good reputation, so when they go to different areas to build, they are known as a quality builder and things go easier in zoning and such...
So too when some people bring sites online, it is known they will more likely than not be offering a legitimate quality website.
Most news organizations, non-profits, law enforcement type sites, would get trust quickly when placing a new site online....where new casino websites not backed by real world casino partners... will not be trusted as quickly.
Many take the search engines... and try to over complicate things... so they can blow smoke up your arse.... and reach in your pocket... when your trying to cover your derriere
My 2 cents
ummmm...
Toolbar pr is far to generic..
Google also assumes the PR of internal pages..
Need proof.. Its a good one but an old one :D
