Does forum works in link building?

I wonder how forums works in link building, I see guys going after forums to build links by including signatures and day and nite looking for some new dofollow links, okay so when we pass comments or post threads it creates a unique page that page doesn’t has any Pagerank values, so how its counted in link building? it just create a healthy backlinks, yes we can say it also helps in keywords in the SERPS, so mine question is does it works in link building to get some PR reputation? Well I am new and still learning, so I am eager to know much in details about how it works in forums.

Forums may not be the best place to get links because each forum discussion has 50+ links. But you can still get a lot of traffic from forums if you are active.

You can get back links on forums (link signature) but you need to have 25 or 50 posts before you can put your link signature..

Forget about PR, But the forum links help somewhat move your sites up in SERPs. So, Build as many links as you can without spamming forums!

i agree to what you have said about forum links. i disagree on what you said about 50 post in order to have a sig. having a sig is all depends on the rules of the forums.check out some forums for yourself and tell me if im wrong.:)

i do know that sometimes when i check my site with link:domainname.com that some of the forum postings show up but i honestly don't know or care that much about the page rank value i just like to learn and sometimes say a thing or two and figure the backlinks do add up, because google i believe has it both ways, so that even links that have no page rank value per se are counted and count toward search engine results in terms of global popularity of a site.

Forums is not the best way to promote our website but it helps us to have backlinks for our website. Because if you are promoting in forum, it means you are spamming in the forums.

However, if you are excellent in a particular niche and helping others by your experience and you know how to grab attention of visitors through your signature, it may help a lot to drive traffic to your website.

Well, I think you could do it, but don't centre your campaign on this method. Make sure you don't spam the forum (by not participating in it and then immediately plugging your business blatantly) and be sure that its niche is relevant to yours.

There are worthy backlinks from do follow forum signatures. You just need to behave so you wouldn't be flagged or marked as spammer. Most of do follow forums I know as hosted or powered by VBulletin; like our own forum.
