The blog is great, but a couple of days ago, i saw a massive banner in the top front side of the homepage,
i understand you have to place advertising on a site like this, but that was quite 'in your face'

I have never put a banner on the blog that is "in your face."

Well, today, i came straight to your forums, so i didn't notice that the banner is still there. (ABCSearch)
I must confess, it has been a while since I last read the blog, so when I came back a couple of days ago, i saw a banner that was not normally (a couple of months ago) there.

For me, it doesn't seem to gel into your homepage.

The couple of banner links on your left side of your homepage seem to fit in nicely.

Also, because I have a slow connection, it takes a while before this banner loads. So, first I see everything on the homepage properly, and then the banner rears its head, so this is more pronounced (which is great for the advertiser)

Perhaps it is possible to make that space seem part of the template?

This is just my opinion, and I'm sure you know much more than me..but in any case, that was my 2 cents worth....

I appreciate the time you have taken to write back--sure you have a hectic schedule....

Well, first thing is that the banners are the last things to load. They are positioned to render last in the CSS. So the content should come up first and then the banners. If you have a very slow connection, why not subscribe to the blog via RSS?

The banner at the top is about two + months old. This is the first complaint I got about it.

I hope it isn't too bad. It is at the top, not stuck in the middle of the content, where it gets annoying - imo.

no, not too bad at all. I think it just appeared to me like that, because it was something new to me after coming back after a while...
This wasn't really a complaint, just a comment.
Whatever you put up there, I will still come back, as this is a great blog.
