Dmoz listing is not easy. If you want to list your site in Dmoz, then it is important to consider all factors which are considered by Dmoz. Develop your site according to those factors. Another important point is, submit your site in relevant category. Consider all these point while submitting your site in Dmoz.

Yeah, DMOZ is a real pain. I have found just as good results getting into Yahoo. If you submit too many times in DMOZ, you will get "black listed"

- Where did you get this information? Not that I don't believe you, but I have also heard it is a good idea to submit to a different category every 3-6 months until you are accepted.

Which is true? Any DMOZ Editors in the house?

Can someone tell us of an experience when they actually were successful submitting to DMOZ??

Sure, but it's not exciting to tell, or to read. Submitted, waited, got in. Length of time to wait varied with each instance. One was within a week, one was several months, one was about a year. Some never got in. Some took different amounts of time. With dmoz, just submit it and forget it. Nothing else to be done.

any DMOZ editor out there? He could make good money on the side accepting delayed submissions :)

He can only accept submissions to his/her own category.

Is the submission forum still up? I had success submitting and hawking that forum (nicely). New and upcoming editors were helpful. That was a year ago. I haven't cared about DMOZ for longer than that.
