I have a potential client who would like to know my costs for a monthly retainer for SEO work. How much would you normally charge for this and how much work per month would this normally include?

I have previously only charged a fixed fee for SEO projects rather than a monthly maintainance package so I'm unsure how much to quote.

Thanks in advance,
Kev

How much time would you spend on this client and how much is your hourly rate...

Thats how i've always worked...

The other way is to charge a commision e.g. everything over 3k of sales you get 10% commision..

Of course you can do both ...

The more you know; the more you charge. It also depends on the site. Do they have a shopping cart? Are they pulling information from a database? Are the URLs dynamic? What kind of server are they using and does the hosting company provide access to the .htaccess file? Are they using a content management system (I hate those damn things, but they seem to be all the rage these days.)? How many pages do they have? How competitive are their key words?

Asking how much to charge for your clients is like asking how much it would cost to fix your car without ever telling us what's wrong with it. Could be a $10 spark plug fix, or you might need a new $5,000 engine.

Plus I might charge $5,000 for that spark plug but only $10 for an engine...

Welcome to the world of "quoting" and business..

Huh? LOL, now I'm confused too.

I guess what Gabs is saying is that it all comes down to:
A- How much you perceive your effort is worth…
B- What kind of budget you think the potential client has…
C- And what sort of monetary gains you think the client would receive from your services...

Or something like that.

All I know is I'd junk the car and buy another one before paying five grand for a spark plug! :p

I am happy with a USD500 retainer, and working for not more than 50 hours a month.

This is my first time in this forum and I am not sure whether or not I am allowed to ask, but I would like to hire someone to do seo retainer work for my site.

Please email support@jukushop.com with details of the services you provide and a price quote. If more information is require before quoting please ask, thank you.
