Apparently, using frames is a safe way to fool search engines.

Its a noframes spam; i've seen many sites do this and still escape from google penalization.

i think wikipedia says cloaking and doorway are similar. lemme check...Cloaking is serving different contents to human and robots; but doorway is an optimized page that resides on some other domain or somtimes within the domain and leads visitors to a site.

IMO, doorway pages are ethical and legal; I would consider a press release as a doorway page.

You have a point there Organic, I guess its very similar to some of my old projects wherein I was asked to design several sites and everything pointing to one site. (adult sites usually does that.)
