Sixth Weather Report: Yahoo! Update Tonight

We will be making changes to the index tonight. You should see some changes in ranking as well as some shuffling of the pages that are included in the index. This update will be completed tomorrow (Thursday).

As always if you have any feedback for us about the new index please email: ystfeedback@yahoo.com. Please provide specific feedback that includes either:

1) Specific query terms where the results are good or bad.

2) Specific domains that you feel are either being under or over indexed.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Four of my sites disappeared from Yahoo a few months ago. Now three have come back with great positions. Hopefully this sticks!

Hopefully they fix some of the bogus listing problems.

I sure hope this isn't over yet... I am stuck at page 3 for all my keywords, I'll never get any visitors unless I climb up to at least page 2

I feel like I'm always left out of these updates these days. I didn't see any changes to any of my rankings (good or bad) with this update.

Stability, consistency - can it be a good thing. :)

That's what I keep telling myself. However, it does make it more difficult to analyze what might be happening in any particular update. On a brighter note, my Msn rankings flipped and flopped again. LOL.

I'm with Donna - no changes here, either... well, except that SEOmoz is ranking #65 for "SEO", but I haven't checked in a while, so who knows. Donna - you're #16 for SEO - beautiful... :D

No change on any sites of mine. I rarely pay attention to Yahoo anymore. I think there results are sh**, until they can improve them I stay clear away.

too bad that doesn't translate into any $$. :) would love to see #16 for some of my money sites main keywords.

Just goes to show the value of natural, community built links, since neither of us have ever done any "link building" per se for our SEO sites, yet we're ranking well in an incredibly competitive field.

Very good observation, and one that everyone should think about over the holidays, as the turkey or ham is rumbling around in their tummies. (myself included, of course) :)

I don't link build, and I am number 13 in Google for seo (http://www.google.com/search?q=seo&hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&start=10&sa=N). Dont get any traffic from it.

A few months ago we dropped on a highly competitive kwd from #6 to page 6. With this new update we are back at our 6 spot. Also we were figuring the drop had something to do with two versions of the landing page (different URLs because we recently launched a new site) and now only the new page is available - finally...

I've been fortunate to have a #1 ranking in with the most popular keyword phrase in the industry virtually since Y went on its own. Lost it for a few days prior to the update (dropped to #4)...and regained it with the update.

The traffic difference was dramatic.

While it helps the real money phrases are regional not the generic industry prhases; ie Belly button lint removal NY versus belly button lint removal.

While the traffic generators are the generic phrases...it reminds me that the money phrases are the ones to focus on.

This update has been very good to me. I wonder if the crappy (pr 0) natural links have made the difference? I have got many new links naturally from forums and blogs and (pr 0 ) sites, and yet my sites are doing better than ever.

No link exchange, no new reciprocals in 6 months, no paid for links in 6 months. Its weird that since I quite all that and just focused on content, everything got better. I still don't see how they can detect me buying pr 7 links from a friend?

If PR0 sites can boost my site; what does that mean? Are we going to get 1000 pr0 sites and keep then in a news format, point links in the most natural method?

I'm on the same page with phoenix...yahoo's relevancy appears to be suffering from the contextually relevant part.

The search for "calling card" for instance http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=calling+card&ei=UTF-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&fr=moz2 returns a few companies that provide the service and then another few results like flickr's that promotes the "victorian calling card" - soooo damn confusing.
