Thread: Who should write the SEO content ?

    Question Who should write the SEO content ?

    I recently had a new job in a media company to help the search marketing team.
    We're working with foreign countries and as a result, the SEO content is written by copywriters from these countries cause the company doesn't feel comfortable with letting some of us who speak the language of the country write the seo content.
    Do you think the SEO content can be effective when it is written by someone having no clue about SEO. They just receive a document with targeted keywords for each page.

    As far as I'm concerned, this is bullshit.
    I've read what the copywriter sent us and this is far from what SEOs do. The title, the pages descriptions, the optimized content...are far from optimized.

    They even ask them to write the Adwords, MSN & Yahoo ads...we end up with things which sound like TV or Radio jingles for ice cream...

    So, my question is, what do you do when you have to write SEO content for foreign countries and do you think copywriters can write this SEO content?

    IMO

    If the copywriters are writing on subjects they understand there shouldn't be a problem.

    Maybe they should have a brief understanding of on page optimization.

    The most important thing (In Google's eyes) are inbound links

    I always say get people who know the subject not people who know SEO. I don't know anything about medicine but I know about SEO, therefore it would be no use in me writing about medicine....

    IMO any one who knows about the product should write about it. If it is written for the user; it'll be good for search engine's too..

    I would have native speakers write the content. Remember to convert to sales it needs to make sense and appear natural to users.

    Here are two options:
    1) One is to train the copywriters on basic on-page optimization. A simple well-written guide would be very beneficial.

    2) Two have an editor optimize the pages.

    Another point I would like to add. If you are writing just for search engines, those pages will not appear natural to users and they probably will not attract as many natural links.

    Hope this helps!

    and as for me, the writer of an SEO content, definitely must have knowledge on SEO, since he/she need to incorporate the keywords in the content. also, she must be familiar of the product or service in which her content will be about.

    in addition to this, she must know how to use good grammar

    I think writers should only write content in the languages they are fluent in. It's far easier for the writers in other countries to understand page optimization, keyword density, and relevant semantic words than it is for an SEO copywriter to learn "enough" to write in a foreign language.

    But that doesn't mean the SEO copywriter is left out of the picture altogether. In this scenario, the SEO writer can become a consultant to the client copywriters.

    The consulting hat can also be worn when you're dealing with a same-language client who still wants to utilize the copywriters they have on staff or contract.

    Depending on the competitiveness of the keywords targeted, the native copywriters may do fine with their content. However, for more competitive terminology (ie terms that yield millions of results on Google), then it'd be better to turn it over to an SEO specialist.

    We've found this particularly true working with English-language clients. Although we may not have the domain expertise that resides within the client company, too often the web page gets so loaded down with technical jargon as to make it nearly useless from an SEO perspective (for more generic terms). We usually recommend a collaborative effort where product-specific pages are written by the internal experts and the main pages of the site leading into those pages are written by our SEO folks.

    In SEO. "Content is King" And we both all know that we create our content for viewers and the same time for search engines to rank well.

    there are three factors to get quality content:
    * seo techniques
    * quality content
    * writing for the web
    These three factors are the more important thing to take in consideration.
    * specific region of the world it is better to get some from this country because they have more knopwledge to words used by your visitors which can affect your article content.

    first of all
    if a content is written for user, it does not mean that it's also good for search engines.

    Second,
    Seperate copywriters are always good even if they donot have knowledge of SEO. what you can do is that let the external copywriter write articles and then you can modify it for seo. Just slight modification will do and if you are experienced then you can modify the article without changing the essence of article.
