Thread: Google 'blog' tip

  1. Default Google 'blog' tip

Have you seen the tip Google has added to 'blog related' searches?

    http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...G=Search&meta=

"Tip: Want to share your life online with a blog? Try Blogger"

Is this new? It seems to be accross any search with 'blog' in the query.

I just find it amusing after Matt Cutts recent comments about hard coding products into search results after the whole should Google advertise on Google argument - http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/im-on-debunking-duty/

"I agree that buying ads where other people can outbid you is much better than hard-coding the search results page to favor someone. That’s what Yahoo does with searches like [online advertising]."

Thats pretty much what Google are doing with their 'tip'.

I've seen more - similar - tips recently. At work, they are urging me to try the G toolbar. (Duh, I don't need it and can't install it). I'm gussing the number of these things will grow and grow.

I don't really have a problem Google doing with this, providing it's clear they're not fixing the AdWords or organic results in their favour.

Yahoo do a similar thing for messenger searches.

How about if Google occupy top spot in paid listings aswell?

So effectively occupying 3 spots (paid, natual and the 'tip')..?

Its not exactly a level playing field...

Yeah that's a good point, they don't really need 3 listings on the one page. Maybe they shouldn't be bidding for the keywords where they've added the blog tips.
