I've just noticed a Google Maps listing appearing for a Bondi Beach search on Google. The map location doesn't seem to be indexed though, but surely it shouldn't be listed as a regular result should it?

Perhaps it got something to do with the site having their address displayed? So with this address, they use their own googlemaps to get the map.
I don't think they index it.
It looks like these pages can be indexed:
site:maps.google.com.au bondi beach
I didn't think Google would list results in this way but I guess it's not a problem after all![]()
Right, as long as there is a link to it, they will capture the link details.

In fact, Matt Cutt had a weekend post, kind of related to this http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/search...earch-results/

That's interesting, perhaps they feel Google Maps locations offer more than regular search result listings which I'd agree with.
No, they are blocking it via the robots.txt file. This is just linkage data I believe.

That makes sense, the robots.txt file seems to be blocking this page from getting cached but it's still appearing in the SERP's because it's being linked to externally.
