Thread: Hidden Text that's useful. Bad or Not?

  1. Default Hidden Text that's useful. Bad or Not?

    Hello all,

Smartbargains.com has hidden text on their page which a client of mine wishes to do a similar thing. Look below the product images and you'll see "Product Details". This is the hiddent text. (URL BELOW)

Of course, google has a rule "no hidden content" so that does answer the questions, but I'm trying to weigh this feature against google's rule. I know the rule is not meant for instances like the below link when it's blackhat or greyhat but in instances where it's useful to a customer what is one to do?

I know the answer but I'm trying to get useful insight other than "well the rule is". Anyone?

    URL
    bed-and-bath.smartbargains.com/prod_collection.aspx?prod=3030328107&cat=44&dept=3 &sp=All+Products%2f%2f%2f%2fBed+%26+Bath+Bargains% 7c%7c%7c%7c%7c%2f%2f%2f%2fSheets%2f%2f%2f%2fAttrib Select%3dSheet+size%3d'Full'%2f%2f%2f%2f&ltype=1&t =ppg.dept-3.cat-44..

    Thanks,
    Randy

    Default Not seeing it either...

I'm not seeing it either, do you have an example of what the client wants. Any type of hidden text is obviously a poor idea.

There are tons of other ways to improve a page, and hidden text is questionable at best.
