Thread: Conversion Optimiser launched in beta

  1. Default Conversion Optimiser launched in beta

Just noticed a new feature on my Google AdWords account today about Conversion Optimiser which has been launched in beta.

Has anyone else seen this? Not sure if it's just a UK test.

I really don't like what i've just read..

Here's how Conversion Optimizer works: simply specify a maximum CPA bid and the Conversion Optimizer does the rest. It uses historical information about your campaign and automatically generates optimal CPC bids for each auction. You still pay per click, but you no longer have to manually adjust your bids to reach your CPA goals
hmm... Call me old fashioned but i'd rather pay for a action vs google working out a click to = a action.. hmm...

I agree that PPA sounds much easier on the content network, I'd be interested to see how this could improve the performance on the Google/search network though.

  4. Default

Note: The Conversion Optimiser requires at least 300 conversions in a 30-day period.
    300 a month ... hmmmmm

  5. Default

Yeah it's quite a limited test, I've got a client who would have qualified for that quite easily but the account's been paused for a couple of weeks so I didn't get to test it out

  6. Default

Only have 1 site with conversion tracking and like you I paused it last week with is massive 3 google ppc conversions this month...

    Can't play...

I guess you missed AdWords announcement about it yesterday at http://adwords.blogspot.com/2007/09/...available.html

I'm testing it out...not overly impressed at this point.

Conversions are down and costs are up. Not my definition of optimized

Yea. I had originally planned to run the test for a full 30 days but if it keeps going the way it has been I may pull the plug early. I'm not testing a mission critical site but still, no point in driving it into the ground for a whole month. If I see some positive signs in the nest week I'll keep it running...if not I'll call it a day and turn the conversion optimizer off.

    I posted these early stats at the blog as well;

    Pre Conversion Optimizer:
    Conversion rate: 38.60%
    Cost per conversion: $0.03

    Conversion Optimizer Day 1
    Conversion rate: 32.61%
    Cost Per Conversion: $0.05

    Conversion Optimizer Day 2
    Conversion rate: 24.07%
    Cost Per Conversion: $0.06
