Thanks for the tips Mike F! So i should start a blog about roller shutters and include the company link and do all these things? Would the blog need to be high PR as well? Or would it just be a good way to get the site linked to diggit etc. Sorry if i am totally misunderstanding what your saying i am a bit new

    Thanks again

    Default not to worry...

I'm new to most of it also,
they are crying at me in other threads on this site for asking stupid questions, (not that your is, of course)
From my taking of what you need is this,,
Keep the blog relevant, content as good as you can spend with the time you have to spend.
Then link and register your self,
    read blogtips @ dailyblogtips com
This will give you all the info you need to get a pretty good blog in no time.
And at the same time there are alot of 'top ten' pages like i mentioned, I know it might be a stretch to write a top ten tips about rolller shutters , but securing you premises for small business or something, then search for similar security type blogs, comment on there stuff, a splash of links and when the writer of the blogs you've commented on pick up on your stuff it begins,
The problem with PR is that some SE's don't place it as high on the list as relevant in content links to other relevant sites. so i suppose if you have to have the link to a blog or get your blog up there on the PR you will have to pick a specific SE. personally (and everything I'm telling you has only just been learn't by me also) I would spend more time by setting up a freely hosted page on Geocites (yahoo) and keep it unique and full of articales and the top ten ish kind of stuff. Then put a link to your page in the content and somewhere else on the page. link the blog you've written, and then find other blogs to link to (with some relevance )
I hope some of this is of use.

Thanks mike f! With all this info i hope to be screaming at people in a few years
Wow i never knew blogs were so important! i am gonna get cracking on one right now! (i'll be sure to post it here when i'm done!)

Can anyone enlighten me towards H1, H2 etc. Should it be a relevant sentence or jumble of keywords such as the meta keywords.

    Thanks!

    Arrow <h2,3,4>

keep the headings full of keywords from both your keywords +description meta tags, the more relevant the better cause some of the SE's will penalize you if you go above about 2% -3% of the content having keywords, don't be tempted to hide them either in font colors same as the background color,
(keyword saturation ) cause they won't list you or send you to the back of the search results,
You can pick up great tips here in the particular se forums, google, msn, etc. and the archives have some good articales that I've found useful, --
do send me the details of the blog and site and i'll give you a comment and link swap if useful, to us both,
    later

The site they have only has H1... is that bad??

Mike i have been working on your blog idea for the last two days and i have come to the conclusion that its impossible to write a blog about roller shutters and industrial doors with any useful content! would submitting to an article directory have the same kind of effect? I have got one article and that was damn hard work itself to work out what to say!

    Thankyou all

hmm... could someone help me optimize the head page of my website? how much would it cost??

  9. #29

    Default not really dave,

The fact that they only have h1 tags isn't that important, if on the other hand they only have a h1 heading and then the word or sentences, or paragraphs they want to highlight are use <strong> or <b> tags is a problem, use a h3, or 4 or whatever , or set the size of one of head tags with a seperate class in the CSS , the Search engines are going to use these when crawling the page to see if they correspond to the keywords and description in the <meta> data. They will also use the Alt text from your img's to see if they have keywords from the meta and title tags. Look around on these forum's ,nearly every second or third person is offering some sort of SE optimise facility, Particularly the moderators - they have companies or links to co's that will help you out with the se.
As to the cost ?? I'm not sure how it works, I prefer to play around with the se tweaking myself and if I keep track of the changes I make each week - I know if the SE robots like it by the overall change. The trick is to be patient and then you know if each change is working. Whereas if you make loads of changes and links and blogs links, its hard to tell what is making the biggest difference.
I'll post you an example of my site that i'm currently doing a blog and a seperate top ten web page with some articales and stuff in it next week - and I'll be able to tell if it pushs my site from Pr4 -7 on the big 3 SE's to a better SERP.!! wish me luck ..

(note to rusty brick - when can I post any urls????????????????????????????????????????? please 15 posts or more /??)
