Irrelevant links

One question in my mind I want know that if I collect more back links those are not relevant for my site these type of back links give any negative value of my site or not..

My thinking is that every link is a good one except for those that are from bad sites in general i would not worry too much if the link is not from another closely related to your particular niche.

No, don't worry about them. We have lots of back links that aren't relevant to our sites and it's okay. But take Winsense's words about bad sites because linking with these sites can be damaging. We had a site one time that had a backlink from a Korean site (we totally couldn't understand the language and didn't know if the site was good or bad, but it was damaging nonetheless) and the site went down the ranks.

Theoretically, no backlink can hurt your site. The only case where a link could hurt you is if you have an outgoing (dofollow) link to a bad neighborhood site.

The thing to consider is the value of the link in terms of SEO benefit and drawing direct traffic from them. Time, money and effort is what you actually waste bulding irrelevant, non-quality backlinks.

No. It has a negative effect on your site if you will link to a bad site, that is, if you have an outgoing (dofollow) link in your site pointing to a bad neighborhood site.

Yeah, you can't control who links to your site so you shouldn't be punished for having a link from a bad site. Just avoid linking to bad sites. All back links have some merit

as long as its not porn. it can give your site some negative impressions specially from visitors and maybe spiders.
