Thread: Googles' New Desktop Search Ad on SERPs

  1. Red face Googles' New Desktop Search Ad on SERPs - prevents Clicking SERPs Page Links

They are really getting aggressive -
this is appearing under some SERPs

But It is preventing everything below the top 10 SERPs from being Clicked on - even the link for Google Books - Possible the DIV tag

    Code:
    </div><p><font size=-1>Try your search again on <a href=http://books.google.com/books?q=george+harrison+&hl=en&lr=&sa=N&tab=wp onmousedown="return clk(this.href,'pro','rppwebaftres','')">Google Book Search</a></font><br><br clear=all><div class=n><table border=0 cellpadding=0 width=1% cellspacing=0 align=center><tr align=center valign=top><td valign=bottom nowrap><font size=-1>Result&nbsp;Page:&nbsp;</font><td nowrap><img src=/nav_first.gif width=18 height=26 alt=""><br><td nowrap><img src=/nav_current.gif width=16 height=26 alt=""><br><span class=i>1</span><td nowrap><a href=/search?q=george+harrison+&hl=en&lr=&start=10&sa=N><img src=/nav_page.gif width=16 height=26 alt="" border=0><br>2</a><td nowrap><a href=/search?q=george+harrison+&hl=en&lr=&start=20&sa=N><img src=/nav_page.gif width=16 height=26 alt="" border=0><br>3</a><td nowrap><a href=/search?q=george+harrison+&hl=en&lr=&start=30&sa=N><img src=/nav_page.gif width=16 height=26 alt="" border=0><br>4</a><td nowrap><a href=/search?q=george+harrison+&hl=en&lr=&start=40&sa=N><img src=/nav_page.gif width=16 height=26 alt="" border=0><br>5</a><td nowrap><a href=/search?q=george+harrison+&hl=en&lr=&start=50&sa=N><img src=/nav_page.gif width=16 height=26 alt="" border=0><br>6</a><td nowrap><a href=/search?q=george+harrison+&hl=en&lr=&start=60&sa=N><img src=/nav_page.gif width=16 height=26 alt="" border=0><br>7</a><td nowrap><a href=/search?q=george+harrison+&hl=en&lr=&start=70&sa=N><img src=/nav_page.gif width=16 height=26 alt="" border=0><br>8</a><td nowrap><a href=/search?q=george+harrison+&hl=en&lr=&start=80&sa=N><img src=/nav_page.gif width=16 height=26 alt="" border=0><br>9</a><td nowrap><a href=/search?q=george+harrison+&hl=en&lr=&start=90&sa=N><img src=/nav_page.gif width=16 height=26 alt="" border=0><br>10</a><td nowrap nowrap><a href=/search?q=george+harrison+&hl=en&lr=&start=10&sa=N><img src=/nav_next.gif width=100 height=26 alt="" border=0><br><span class=b>Next</span></a></table></div><center>

That's a huge messup. I'm surprised more people haven't picked this up yet. They are cripling 90% of their users.

On a side note: I can just hear all the FireFox geeks out there screaming that these are the reasons people should switch to Firefox when I remember before Firefox ever came out problems like this were averted because there was only 1 standard. I think it's crazy websites are adapting FireFox standards when FireFox only has a slight market share at this point. Web designers need to be coding for what people use at that present time and NOT their personal preference.

Rant over. I'm just mad I cant get to page two without messing with the URL string. ;P

I wonder if anyone even uses it because last year Yair Amit from Watchfire was able to find lots of "bugs" that could allow a hacker to take control of your computer. That alone would cause me not to use it...lol
