Thread: Amazon in the Contextual Ads Game?

Default Amazon in the Contextual Ads Game?

    Chris Beasly writes http://www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2006/02/04/amazon-sense/

Amazon is apparently looking into the feasibility of starting their own ad network like Adsense. They’ve been contacting select members of their associates programs, including myself, asking if we’d like to be beta testers. The way they want the beta test to work is to give you a special code for Amazon’s Keywords Recommends banners (the banners that you feed a keyword to and they show related products) and have this special code then show these new ads 50% of the time.

Yep welcome to the game Amazon. They sure have the resources and network to become a strong contender.

Surely the business world won't let Google, Yahoo, MSN and Amazon keep contextual advertising all to themselves will they?

Who do you think will be the next big player?

IMO this is one of the biggest money, least contested areas on the planet.

I think that all they have to do is show they can do a better job than the competitors and they can win a market share in this battle. Unlike search, the market is savvy and ready to switch at a hair's breath if the right product comes along.

What do you think constitutes a "better job"?

  8. Default When do they open for signups?

I hope they are more responsive to their publishers as compared to google. Amazon's affiliate program is good and they do have the resources to give google and yahoo a good run for their money.
Anyone know when they open for general sign ups?
