it just smells of a set up.
bmw got back in the index pretty damn quickly, why? because they spend loads on ppc, or because in actual fact google and bmw mutually agreed this whole stunt as a PR excercise for both parties well before bmw was banned...
google got to show off "big daddy" and their new clamp down on spam, and bmw got plastered all over the press, got a crap load of incoming links as a result, everyone was a winner with this one.
it doesn't smell right.
