I did try it and it really worked well for some low competitive keywords.

I really have not tried it for middle or low competitive keywords but i am very much sure it should help with them also..

Well, as far as I know, Link Wheel basically involves a number of web 2.0 websites which are linked to each other by some way or the other and all those links are then sent to your website.

It is basically a link building strategy and I think it won't be really great to consider it as link building can be done by yourself which is a better option

Google is well aware of this type of linking and can penalise you if found. It is best not to close the wheel and leave the joining link out. The new generation of link wheels are far more complex than the traditional 6 web 2.00 variety.

They do not have that much power for rankings and are mostly used as a sales funnel.

The main benefit is that you can drive as many links to the wheel as you like without Google taking much notice. Try that with your own website and here comes the sandbox.

Link wheel is not good strategies for link building. It increase chances of to be banned. So you should avoid it and use right link building activities to increase SEO values of websites.
