Does the order of the keywords matter to Google rankings?

I'm trying to decide between two keywords:

sexy plus size woman clothes
clothing woman sexy plus size

"sexy plus size woman clothes" has more competition, and easier sounding.

Now "clothing woman sexy plus size" is no competition, but the order words makes it hard to use in the content.

If I use "clothing woman sexy plus size", could I re-order the words to "sexy plus size woman clothing" and still get the Google rankings for "clothing woman sexy plus size"?

Warmly,

Google will first try to find the exact phrase entered in the search box. Then move on to permutations n combinations. So if a term is high competition, its because more people search for that. Dividing ur keyphrase into 2 and interchangng them may still work. When using as anchor text for backlinks, vary them a bit instead of sticking to the same throughout.

Two questions to consider:
1) What is the difference in traffic for the two keyword phrases? Even if there is no competition for a phrase, if there's no traffic, well...there's no traffic!
2) Even though there's competition for the first phrase, are the sites on the first page of the SERPS actually optimizing for the phrase? If not, it shouldn't be too hard to optimize your way to the top.

Getting back to your question, though...as SEOIndia mentioned, yes it matters...remember the googlebot is a machine and does not work intuitively. If you go with your second phrase, try to keep the words in order as much as possible without forcing the language.

Good luck!

As mentioned, YSE it makes a difference. As also mentioned, it’s about the traffic/targeting. People are making searches, the search engine merely fascilitates that. So think in ‘natural phrasing’. The better you are a trying to figure out what your target group would type in/search for, the greater you chances for success.

Build up targeted phrasings;

plus size clothes
plus size women’s clothes
women’s clothes plus sizes
sexy plus size woman clothes
plus size woman clothes sexy

THIS; ‘clothing woman sexy plus size’ – is an unlikely target.

My 2 cents 4 ya (1.90CDN)

Dear friend,

yeah it effects bad position and ranking on search engine if you place keywords as you mentioned on the same field. Yeah you can do one thing. If you really place both keywords on the page.

Place keywords on H1 Tag

sexy plus size woman clothe

<h12>clothing woman sexy plus size

Like this, you can place your keywords on the same page without any fault.

Keyword order is not so important in search engines, but do have some affect. Try to put the most important keyword at the start point.

Google will consider both. First it will go for the exact match then for any match i.e. words rearrangement. So go for both keywords, it will be beneficial for your site.

i'm not sure about this, but IMO, i think it will be better if the main keywords are at the start point

clothing woman sexy plus size
That is not a keyword.

The only sites using it (besides this thread) are sites pulling data from Wordtracker or whatever keyword tool generated it:
google.com/search?q=%22clothing+woman+sexy+plus+size%22
(sorry I can't post hyperlinks yet)

Think about the stop words that may have been removed from that "keyword": for, of, by, to, a, the, etc...

If you really want to target that keyphrase, make a page with this
element:
Clothing for Women: Sexy Plus Size

You should end up at #1 for that phrase in very little time (assuming your site can push this seroundtable.com thread out of the top spot).

I doubt people are searching for that exact phrase though...
