Well, at this point of time we can just speculate things... I am sure this is going to be a tough competition for facebook.
It seems Google is all set to beat major social networking websites because the project appears to have many interesting applications like, +circles, +spark, +hangout etc

It also offer video conversation in a group and its circle things define security as you can put people of same group in a circle and others in different circle independent of each other. It'll be great i guess.

I think it is better to wait till its official launching. By reading reviews of people on this project it seems that it would be a Google's one more path breaking project just like previous ones.
