It seems that Google News US and Google News UK results are currently exact duplicates.
For example, go to news.google.com and type “cars” in the search box. Next, open another browser window, go to news.google.co.uk and type “cars” in the search box. Take a look at the results - they are exactly the same. It’s obviously how this would be a problem for companies with offices in both the US and UK who are attempting to displayed different news items for US and UK publics. What do you guys think? Have you heard of any Google News updates occurring recently? |

I'm not sure if the search results have ever been country specific, I just tried searching for football which I would have expected to show American football on news.google.com and Premiership soccer on news.google.co.uk but they were both identical.

They are suppose to be "tailored":

It doesn't mention the search results but I'd expect it to be relevant to the country site it's within, which it obviously isn't at the moment.

OK, did a bunch of digging around and found this...
http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/012572.html To search for car and get specific results from UK sources only; search in any of the Google News engines with the syntax using [car location:uk]. More details at http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/012572.html |

That's interesting, I think including the location:uk part for all searches on the UK Google News site would make more sense but I suppose they want to show a wider range of more up-to-date results.

I am not sure about that. I like to get UK results when I search in the US. Heck, I like getting sources in Asia also.

Yeah that makes sense too, I'm sure they know what they're doing

I've been seeing a great deal of UK Sponsored Search results when searching form my office (Lincoln, RI, USA). When I perform the same search at home (Dartmouth, MA, USA) I see no UK results.
I have keywords in the top of the Sponsored Search results that I am not seeing when I'm searching from work?? I.T. Dept. said they have not changed ISP or any DNS/IP addresses. It seems Google has mapped my Companies IP as being in the UK. This has been going on for over two-weeks. Today, I'm starting to see the same thing in Yahoo SERPS???? I have no idea what's going on. -John |
